Bengaluru: Duped by touts, students' future uncertain

They have not been issued hall tickets for their SSLC examination and have been told they have been studying in unauthorized institutions.

Bengaluru: The future of 25 class X students of the Vivekananda High School and 10 students of the St George Public School in Sarayipalya in Thanisandra is uncertain as they have not been issued hall tickets for their SSLC examination and have instead been told they have been studying in unauthorized institutions.

“The students are not at fault. They have paid the full examination fee and attended classes. So we are considering letting them appear for the supplementary examination," said an officer of the Karnataka Secondary Education examination Board, which is conducting the examination. Preliminary investigation by the education department has revealed that students of both schools had been duped by touts.

"These schools are unauthorised. But a tout promised them that they would be recognized and also got them hall tickets on the day of the examination. The schools have continued with admitting students with the connivance of the touts,” said an officer of the Department of Public Instruction.

The Hennur police has meanwhile arrested the head of the Vivekananda High School, Nagaraj, on a complaint by Block Education Officer (BEO-South 3), R. Ramesh, for running an unauthorised institution.
