Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh reported 117 fresh corona infections but no pandemic-related death in the past 24 hours, it was officially stated on Sunday evening. A complaint has, meanwhile, been filed by a family suspecting that the death of a woman member was due to covid vaccination.
The corona infections totaled 8,89,916 in the state, while the death toll stood at 7,169. The mortality rate was put at 0.81 per cent.
The number of recoveries increased to 8,82029 as 66 more patients recovered. There were 718 active cases in the state in the past 24 hours. As many as 39122 samples were tested and the total sample tests touched 13954131 in the state.
Chittoor district reported the highest single-day tally of 41. Guntur district reported 17 positive cases followed by Krishna 11, Srikakulam 10, Nellore 9, Kadapa 8, Visakhapatnam 6, West Godavari 5, Anantapur 4, East Godavari 2, Kurnool 2, Prakasam 1, Vizianagaram 1.
Anganwadi worker Md Gulshad Begum (35) died three days after taking corona vaccination in Sanath Nagar in Vijayawada. Her husband Md Taslim said Gulshad Begum got Covid vaccination’s first dose on January 25 and the second dose on February 24.
Gulshad fell ill on Saturday night with foam and blood emanating from her mouth. Her husband and family members immediately tried to shift her to a private hospital for treatment but died on the way. The family members suspect this was due to reaction from the vaccination and lodged a complaint at the Penamaluru police station.
District medical and health officer Dr M Suhasini said the department conducted a primary inquiry and there was no evidence to show the death was due to a reaction from the corona vaccine.
"Nine others have also taken the second dose on February 24 along with Gulshad Begum and they all are fine. Begum also did not complain of any difficulty."
Dr Sushasini said doctors who attended on her are suspecting pulmonary embolism as the cause of death and are conducting further inquiry to know the exact cause of the death.
