Rashmi Thackeray, wife of Uddhav Thackeray takes over as Saamana editor

The newspaper, which is the mouth piece of Shiv Sena, was found by Bal Thackeray in 1988

Mumbai: Rashmi Thackeray, wife of Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, has been appointed as the editor of the Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana. The Marathi publication printed her name as the editor in its Sunday edition.

She is the third editor of the publication, and takes over from her husband. Uddhav Thackeray had resigned from the chief editor’s position before taking oath as the chief minister of Maharashtra in November last year.

The newspaper was launched by Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on January 23, 1988 as a medium to convey his views to the people of Maharashtra. Since then, he remained as its founding editor, and it was after his demise that son Uddhav Thackeray took over the editor’s post.

Meanwhile, senior Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut continues to be the executive editor of Saamana. The publication also has a Hindi edition.
