Thrissur: Cops, students launch campaign against drugs

A flash mob by the NCC and NSS volunteers of the college was held after the inaugural event.

Thrissur: The NCC, NSS and Lahari Virudha Club of St.Aloysius College, Elthuruth in association with the Thrissur Janamaithri Police, the State Excise Department and the Thrissur Municipal Corporation organised ‘Right Direction -2017’, a public awareness campaign against drug abuse, here on Tuesday. V.K.Raju, Circle Inspector of Thrissur Town West Police station, inaugurated the event on the District Collectorate premises. St.Aloysius College Principal Dr.Fr.Babu Paul K.T CMI presided over the function.

Salim.S, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Thrissur, flagged off the anti-drug awareness rally and marathon undertaken by the NSS and NCC. Janamaithri Police Sub Inspectors P.V.Sindhu and Ouseph, NSS programme officer Fedric Joseph, Associate NCC officer Lt.Jaison Jacob and Lahari Vimuktha Club coordinator Dr.Sinto Jacob attended the programme. A flash mob by the NCC and NSS volunteers of the college was held after the inaugural event. The flash mob hit the streets at various centres in the city, before concluding their performance at Sakthan bus stand in the evening. Earlier, hundreds of college students took part in the awareness rally by holding placards, saying ‘No to Drugs’.
