In MP First, Ancient Temple Buys Record ₹20-Cr Cover For Devotees

Bhopal: The famous Shri Ganpati Mandir of Khajrana in Indore in Madhya Pradesh has taken a record Rs. 20 crore public liability insurance policy to protect millions of visitors during the ten-day ‘Ganeshotsav’ festival.
This is the first initiative by a temple in Madhya Pradesh to give the visiting devotees during a festival the insurance cover.
“This time, the temple management committee has decided to cover the visiting devotees to the shrine during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival under insurance policy”, Indore district collector Shivam Verma said.

The ‘festival insurance’ covers potential accidents, injuries, or untoward incidents on the temple premises during the heavy festival rush, expected to draw up to 20 million visitors, the management committee member said.
An important tourist destination of Indore, Khajrana Ganesh temple, as is known among the devotees, was built in 1735 by Holkar Queen Ahilyabai Holkar.
The shrine is a deeply revered landmark in the city where locals traditionally offer prayers before starting new ventures, buying homes, or celebrating weddings.
The main festival of this temple is Vinayak Chaturthi, which is held in grand manner attracting not only Hindu devotees but also foreigners.
An architectural marvel, the temple is also a sign of opulence.
The gate and outer wall of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple is made of silver and different moods and festivals are depicted on it.
The eyes of the deity are made of diamonds.
The upper wall of the sanctum sanctorum is made of silver.
