IAS Officer Anurag Jain Appointed New CEO of Niti Aayog

Jain has held several important positions in both the Union and state governments

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Wednesday cleared the appointment of Anurag Jain, IAS, as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of Niti Aayog. The ACC has also approved his tenure in service and thereafter on contract for an overall period of two years or until further orders, whichever is earlier, according to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

Born on 11 August 1965 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, Jain is an IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, 1989 batch. Jain displayed academic excellence from an early age. He completed his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1986, securing the second rank in his batch. He chose to pursue the civil services, successfully clearing the UPSC examination in 1988.

A civil servant with more than 36 years of administrative experience, Jain also served as the chief secretary of Madhya Pradesh, the state’s top bureaucratic position, where he oversaw key initiatives in investment promotion, infrastructure expansion and administrative reforms.

Jain has held several important positions in both the Union and state governments. He has served as secretary, ministry of road transport and highways, secretary, DPIIT, joint secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), vice chairman of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), and managing director of the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation.
