Holkar Palace’s Durbar Hall Hosts Mohan Cabinet Meeting
First governance-related meeting in majestic royal complex in 80 years

BHOPAL: The Chief Minster Mohan Yadav Cabinet meet on Tuesday in the beautifully decorated Durbar Hall of the the majestic Rajwada, palace of the erstwhile royal Holkar dynasty in Indore. Missing was at the meeting was tribal welfare minister Vijay Shah who has landed in an unsavoury controversy after making derogatory remarks on Colonel Sofiya Qureshi.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and his ministerial colleagues sat on mats and cushions. Holding the meeting in the palace was seen as tribute to the 18th century ruler Rani Ahilya Bai of the Holkar dynasty, ahead of her 300th birth anniversary falling on May 31.
The last governance-related meeting was held by the Holkar dynasty in the Durbar Hall of Rajwada in 1945, some historians say. Yadav and his ministerial colleagues paid floral tribute to Holkar dynasty queen Ahilya Bai before starting the meeting.
The cabinet has accorded approval of various welfare schemes and projects worth `3,867 crore. The Cabinet has granted approval to the Lokmata Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar training scheme, aimed at providing employment-oriented skill development for the state’s youth. Beneficiaries will receive an annual interest subsidy of `1,000 with a lifetime cap of `10,000 per person on loan interest.
An allocation of Rs 100 crore has been made for implementing the scheme.
The cabinet has accorded approval to the Madhya Pradesh Metropolitan Planning and Development Act, 2025, which will enable the formation of the metropolitical planning committees and metropolitan regional development authorities, state urban development minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said in his post-cabinet meeting briefing.
The meeting has also sanctioned the proposal to establish women hostels in the industrial areas at `249.66 crore
