Govt Prioritising AI, Digital Skills Training for Civil Servants: Jitendra Singh

Over 1.70 crore government employees onboarded on iGOT Karmayogi, with 218 AI and emerging technology courses.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Wednesday said the government has accorded high priority to building civil services' capacity in artificial intelligence and digital technologies.Mission Karmayogi -- the flagship programme for civil services' capacity-building in India -- aims to equip civil servants with skills to make them future-ready, he said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
"Accordingly, high priority has been accorded to building civil services' capacity in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technologies and to empower public workforce with skills and knowledge in this field," said Singh, the Minister of State for Personnel.
He was responding to a question whether the government has formulated any policy for the capacity-building of its employees in AI and digital technologies.
At present, the iGOT (integrated government online training) Karmayogi platform -- which has onboarded over 1.70 crore government employees from across the ministries, departments and organisations of the Government of India and from the governments of all states and Union Territories governments -- has 218 courses on AI and Emerging Technologies, designed to equip government officials with essential digital knowledge and skills, Singh said.
Over 3.3 crore course completions have been achieved by learners on the iGOT platform on these courses, the minister said.
