Four Bangladeshi Nationals Held for Illegal Entry in Murshidabad
They had illegally entered India by crossing the border at Padma river near Shivanagar Ghat in Ranitala.
Berhampore: Four Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by the police on Monday night in Murshidabad of West Bengal. They had illegally entered India by crossing the border at Padma river near Shivanagar Ghat in Ranitala.
The group was waiting for an Indian tout to provide them shelter at a nearby village but came to the notice of cops for the gathering at night and got caught. All of them are youths and crossed the border apparently in search of jobs.
They were Alaman Sheikh of Sonaikandi village and Sabbir Sheikh, Mannan Sheikh and Mohammad Biplab of Berpara village at Rajshahi in Bangladesh, according to the police.
Booked under the Foreigners Act, the four were produced at the additional chief judicial magistrate at the Lalbag Court, on Tuesday and were remanded in five days’ police custody.
