Five Die In West Bengal Road Mishap
A Digha-bound AC bus from Nazirpur in the district rammed into a speeding maruti van which lost control and hit a roadside tree at Kanthalia village in Mahishbathan of Karimpur.

Berhampore: Five persons were killed in a road accident in Nadia of West Bengal. The mishap took place at Jalangi-Karimpur state highway early Tuesday.
A Digha-bound AC bus from Nazirpur in the district rammed into a speeding maruti van which lost control and hit a roadside tree at Kanthalia village in Mahishbathan of Karimpur.
The locals rescued three female and three male passengers including the driver with fatal injuries from the mangled Maruti van and rushed them to Karimpur Hospital. Four among the six injured were declared dead.
They were Anima Sarkar and her son Sanjay, who were from Thanarpara in Nadia, and Sulekha Sarkar and Mamata Sarkar, who were from Sagarpara in Murshidabad.
Later the Maruti van driver, Suman Khan, succumbed to injuries at Tehatta Sub Division Hospital. He was from Raninagar in Murshidabad.
The sixth injured passenger of the Maruti van is undergoing treatment at Tehatta Sub Division Hospital. His condition is critical. SDPO (Tehatta) Suvotosh Sarkar confirmed the death of five persons.
Many passengers of the offending bus were also injured. They were taken to Karimpur Hospital for treatment but their injuries were minor in nature.
