FIR Against 8 in Ram Mandir Donation Theft Case

VHP seeks fast-track court in temple funds case

New Delhi: An FIR has been registered against eight persons in the Ram Mandir donation theft case after an SIT probe, police said.

The case was registered on a complaint filed by Ram Janmabhoomi Trust member Krishna Mohan. The SIT, set up by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe alleged theft of donation money, submitted its report earlier this week.

VHP international president Alok Kumar on Thursday demanded a fast-track court and day-to-day hearing in the case. He said the investigation should be completed on priority and a chargesheet filed at the earliest.

Kumar also sought a foolproof system for managing temple funds and donations. He said any diversion of money offered to Lord Ram was a blow to the faith of Hindu society.

On allegations against Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra general secretary and VHP leader Champat Rai, Kumar said the matter should be probed honestly.

“Those who created obstacles in the construction of the Ram Mandir, those who opened fire at kar sevaks, those who told the Supreme Court that Ram was a fictional character… people understand their drama. Hindus will never forgive those who are politicising the matter,” Kumar told a news agency.

On the allegations against Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra general secretary and VHP leader Champat Rai, Kumar said everything should be probed honestly. He said Rai himself had initiated the process by bringing the matter to the SIT’s attention
