Filmmaker Anik Dutta’s Funeral on Friday

The police later found a suicide note which led to an assessment that the 66-year-old had ended his life by jumping off. On Wednesday night Mr Adhikari visited SSKM Hospital and paid his last respect to Dutta.

Kolkata: Filmmaker Anik Dutta's funeral will be held on Friday. His family members shared the decision on Thursday after visiting his body which has been kept at Peace World in the city for preservation after post-mortem at SSKM Hospital on Wednesday evening.

Dutta's daughter, Oishi, who lives in Sweden, returned to the city meanwhile. She along with her mother Sondhi later informed in a message that Dutta’s body would be taken to NT One Studio in Tollygunge on Friday for his friends, fans and fellows in the film fraternity and beyond to pay their last respect to him from 11 am to 12.30 pm.

The final journey will start from there, ending at Keoratala Crematorium. Actor-turned-BJP MLA Rudranil Ghosh who has been entrusted by chief minister Suvendu Adhikari for a smooth conduct of last rites of the film director, earlier said that the body would be kept at Nandan.

The plan however changed later. On Wednesday afternoon Dutta fell to death from the terrace of a multi-storeyed housing apartment, where his wife Sondhi stays at a flat, at Hindustan Park in Gariahat after leaving his residence at Dover Lane.

The police later found a suicide note which led to an assessment that the 66-year-old had ended his life by jumping off. On Wednesday night Mr Adhikari visited SSKM Hospital and paid his last respect to Dutta.
