Faridabad: Stepfather Allegedly Slits 3-Year-Old’s Throat

Faridabad: A man was arrested here on Tuesday for allegedly slitting his three-year-old stepson's throat with a knife, police said.

The man was allegedly unhappy about his wife's frequent visit to her mother's house to meet her son who was found dead on Sunday morning.

Sushant (23) got married a year ago to Sudha who had a child from her first marriage. After their marriage, the boy, Aditya, lived with his maternal grandparents house in Shiv Durga Vihar, Faridabad.

Preliminary investigation suggested the man disliked the child, and Sudha's frequent visits to her mother's home to see the child was a source of constant conflict between the couple.

Sushant and Sudha who lived in SGM Nagar in Faridabad went to the grandparents' house on Sunday. "On the morning of June 21, seizing an opportunity, he murdered the child by slitting his throat with a knife. We are questioning the accused," a senior police officer said.

According to police, the child was found on a bed with a deep injury to his throat and blood stains around him around 11 am on Sunday.

After receiving information about the incident, a team from Surajkund police station, a team of the crime branch and forensic experts rushed to the spot and began an investigation.

The child's body was taken into custody and sent for a post-mortem, they added.

Following the complaint by Shriram, the grandfather of the victim, an FIR was registered at Surajkund police station.

"Making a breakthrough in the case, the crime branch, Sector 16 team arrested the accused stepfather Sushant today. He will be produced in a city court tomorrow (Wednesday)," said a spokesperson of Faridabad Police.
