According to sources, the 78-year-old BJD president experienced discomfort earlier in the day and was immediately shifted to the hospital for medical care and observation. Doctors have carried out preliminary examinations and are closely monitoring his condition.
Hospital sources indicated that Patnaik’s uneasiness was likely due to dehydration and that his condition has improved following primary treatment. An official health bulletin is expected to be issued shortly.
Patnaik, who had previously undergone surgery in Mumbai and spent several days under specialist supervision, continues to draw concern about his health. News of his hospitalisation has triggered an outpouring of prayers and support from BJD workers, well-wishers, and citizens across Odisha. Many party supporters have gathered outside the hospital premises, anxiously awaiting updates on their leader’s recovery.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened around the hospital amid expectations of visits by political leaders and senior party functionaries.
Latest reports said state health minister Mukesh Mahaling visited the hospital and monitored the treatment process.
