The women’s best driver award went to Surekha of Sri Vishnu Engineering College, Bhimavaram, with Singari Gupta of Maharashtra and Sakshi Khate of Uttar Pradesh securing second and third prizes, respectively

Hyderabad: Women drivers stole the spotlight on the final day of the four-day eBAJA SAEIndia 2025 event, a showcase of electric mobility and engineering innovation. Hosted for the second time by B.V. Raju Institute of Technology in Narsapur on the city outskirts, the competition began with 85 registered teams and culminated in a four-hour final showdown among 44 teams.

The top three places were bagged by the D.Y. Patil College of Engineering and Dr Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University, both from Maharashtra, and B.V. Raju Institute of Techonology.

The day’s highlight was the Endurance Event. Out of 77 teams, 51 passed technical inspections, and 44 advanced after rigorous safety and brake tests. The race was flagged off by senior figures from the automotive industry and academia.

The women’s best driver award went to Surekha of Sri Vishnu Engineering College, Bhimavaram, with Singari Gupta of Maharashtra and Sakshi Khate of Uttar Pradesh securing second and third prizes, respectively.

The Dronacharya evaluation for faculty advisers, group discussions and personal interviews led to Professor Bhimagoud Patil of MIT Academy of Engineering, Alandi, Pune, being declared the winner.

Organisers explained said the out-of-classroom educational platform saw engineering students design, fabricate, and race all-terrain vehicles, facing challenges across static, dynamic, and endurance events. Originally launched in the US by SAE International, the competition has grown into a nationally and internationally recognised event that provides students with practical, real-world experience.
