NEET Candidate Hides Mobile In Flush Tank, Caught

A resident of Achampet, entered the school premises around 7 am and hid a mobile phone in the washroom area before the examination commenced.

Hyderabad: An 18-year-old NEET candidate was caught red-handed for resorting to malpractice during the NEET re-test by hiding electronic gadgets in the building at a government school examination centre in Ragannaguda under the Adibatla police station limits on Sunday.

According to city police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, the candidate, a resident of Achampet, entered the school premises around 7 am and hid a mobile phone in the washroom area before the examination commenced. Later, at around 11 am, he concealed the device in a zip-lock cover and placed it inside a flush tank." The exam commenced at 2 pm.

The commissioner said police teams had conducted thorough inspections of the examination centre twice and frisked all candidates before entry. However, the hidden phone remained undetected during the checks.

During the examination, the student complained of stomach pain and sought permission to use the restroom. After noticing that he had spent a long time inside the washroom, the invigilators became suspicious and sent staff members to verify his whereabouts.

Sajjanar said the candidate was caught red-handed while using the concealed mobile phone to search for answers through Google Chrome. Police personnel immediately seized the device and examined its contents.

Following a complaint lodged by the school administration, police registered a case and took the candidate into custody. Further investigation is underway to determine whether any other persons were involved in the malpractice attempt.
