ED Probes ₹10-Cr Liquor Racket

The agency searched 10 premises across Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Punjab in connection with the alleged racket: Reports

NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday said it had seized ₹11 lakh in cash and documents following two days of searches in a money-laundering case linked to alleged illegal sales of imported foreign liquor through a Gurugram-based outlet.

The agency searched 10 premises across Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Punjab in connection with the alleged racket involving the liquor outlet 'The Theka', in which Ankush Goyal is a partner.

The ED alleged that a liquor syndicate had procured and stored large quantities of imported foreign liquor without mandatory holograms and track-and-trace strips before selling it through the licensed outlet.

The money-laundering investigation stems from an FIR and chargesheet filed by Haryana Police following allegations of customs duty and state excise tax evasion through misuse of the bond-to-bond transfer mechanism.

The case originated from a complaint by excise officials, who seized 3,921 cases and 176 loose bottles of imported foreign liquor from the outlet on December 9, 2025.

According to the ED, the syndicate allegedly passed off the imported liquor as legitimate stock, earning profits of 20 to 25 per cent and generating proceeds of crime exceeding ₹10 crore.

The agency said the seized documents would be examined as part of its investigation. A response from the outlet's promoters was not immediately available.
