ED Joint Director Caught By CBI In Graft Case
Chintan Raghuvamsi, Joint Director of the ED’s Bhubaneswar office, was taken into custody by a team of CBI officials during a trap operation on Wednesday evening.

Bhubaneswar: In a rather unusual turn of events, a senior official of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) posted in Bhubaneswar was on Thursday caught by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh to extend undue favours to a mining businessman.
Chintan Raghuvamsi, Joint Director of the ED’s Bhubaneswar office, was taken into custody by a team of CBI officials during a trap operation on Wednesday evening.
Sources revealed that Raghuvamsi had struck a deal worth Rs 50 lakh with a mining operator to help him evade action in a case related to financial irregularities. However, the businessman, unwilling to pay the bribe, tipped off the CBI about the alleged extortion bid.
Acting swiftly, the premier investigating agency laid a trap. As per the plan, when the complainant was handing over Rs 20 lakh at an undisclosed location, CBI sleuths swooped in and caught Raghuvamsi red-handed.
Following the arrest, the ED official was taken to the CBI office in Bhubaneswar for interrogation.
Sources further claimed that Raghuvamsi was in contact with at least nine other businessmen, allegedly promising to manipulate or dilute investigation processes initiated by the ED in return for hefty bribes.
However, no official statement had been issued by the CBI at the time of filing this report.
