ED Attaches Raina, Dhawan’s Assets Worth ₹11.14 Cr

The federal agency's probe has found that both the former cricketers "knowingly" entered into endorsement agreements with foreign entities for the promotion of 1xBet and its surrogates

New Delhi:The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached assets worth ₹11.14 crore belonging to former cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan as part of a money-laundering investigation linked to the operations of an alleged illegal betting website.

Officials said a provisional order has been issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to attach an immovable property owned by Dhawan worth ₹4.5 crore and a mutual fund investment held by Raina worth ₹6.64 crore in connection with the case against the online betting platform 1xBet.

The ED’s probe has found that both former cricketers “knowingly” entered into endorsement agreements with foreign entities for promoting 1xBet and its surrogate platforms.

The agency has also questioned the two, along with several other prominent figures, including former cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa, and actors Sonu Sood, Urvashi Rautela, Mimi Chakraborty (former Trinamul Congress MP), and Bengali actor Ankush Hazra, as part of the ongoing investigation.

Registered in Curaçao, 1xBet describes itself on its website as a globally recognised bookmaker with over 18 years of experience in the betting industry.
