BHUBANESWAR: Panic has spread across villages in Bhadrak district’s Bhandaripokhari and Bant areas after a stray dog went on a biting spree, leaving several people injured.
The black stray dog has reportedly attacked multiple residents, instilling fear among locals, particularly parents of young children. So far, five people — including three minors — have sustained serious injuries. All of them are undergoing treatment at the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital.
“My brother-in-law’s son had come to play with my daughter when the stray dog suddenly attacked him. We rushed him to the hospital. Soon after, the same dog bit another person in Podanga Gram Panchayat under Bant block, and later another child. We also heard of two more victims. These repeated attacks have left everyone panicked,” Sashikanta Dutta, a relative of one of the injured children, said on Sunday.
Residents alleged that despite informing the forest department about the repeated incidents, no action has yet been taken to capture the dog.
