Digvijay Singh To Launch 1,000-km Apolitical ‘Padayatra’ From Ujjain To Ayodhya On Oct 2

The Congress leader further announced that he is consulting with legal experts to file an FIR in Ayodhya on July five or July six in connection with the alleged theft of the donations.

Bhopal: Congress veteran and former chief minister Digvijay Singh on Friday announced that he would launch a 1000 km-long ‘Padayatra’ from Mahakaleshwar shrine in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh on October two in protest against the alleged theft of donations given by devotees across the country for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Mr. Singh declared that the proposed protest march would be completely apolitical and the campaign would receive no coverage in the social media network sites.

The former chief minister, who is also a member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), has made an appeal to the devotees who had paid donations for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya to join the protest march to highlight the betrayal of their faith following the alleged theft of donations to the Ayodhya Ram Temple.

“I have donated Rs 1.1 lakh for Ram Temple construction and I have a receipt of the donation with me. I will go to Ayodhya Ram Temple in the march along with my receipt. I also appeal to other devotees who have donated to join the march along with their receipts of donations”, he said.

The Congress leader further announced that he is consulting with legal experts to file an FIR in Ayodhya on July five or July six in connection with the alleged theft of the donations.

It is alleged that the theft amount may run to a whopping Rs 200 crore.

He accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) of exploiting religious sentiments of Hindus for their personal gains.

Mr. Singh alleged that a guest house has been built on the land of Mahakaleshwar shrine in Ujjain by a trustee having allegiance to the RSS and the occupants of the rooms in the guest house are assured of VIP darshan in the temple.

The Congress leader said that he would go deep into the matter to take up the issue to the public.
