Didi: EC Made Some Apps Via BJP IT Cell
I would like to tell everyone that the EC is doing everything wrong in the SIR

Kolkata: Launching a fresh attack, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday accused the Election Commission (EC) of making some applications through BJP IT cell in the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of voters' list in the state.
She also called the apps “illegal, unconstitutional and undemocratic.” The Trinamul Congress supremo made the high-voltage claim at the end of her two-day visit to supervise preparations for Gangasagar Fair at Sagar Island in South 24 Parganas.
“I would like to tell everyone that the EC is doing everything wrong in the SIR. Those who are alive are shown dead. The aged people (meant also ailing) are made to attend hearings with pipes in their nose,” Ms Banerjee alleged to the media.
She claimed, “The EC has made some apps through the BJP IT cell. These are illegal, unconstitutional and undemocratic. This can not continue. I request you to cross check it and stand by the people. There is no need to stand by me,” before leaving.
Her latest salvo came a day after her party filed a petition against the SIR at the Supreme Court within hours of her announcement to plead for the affected voters against the drive.
Meanwhile, Nandigram BJP MLA and leader of the opposition Suvendu Adhikari wrote to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to recognize Employment Records from Tea Gardens and Cinchona Gardens as valid proofs of identity and residence for the SIR.
He stated, “This is a crucial step to empower the marginalized Tea Garden Workers, Forest Dwellers, and Plantation Workers in North Bengal's Dooars and Terai regions, who reside in districts like Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, and North & South Dinajpur.”
