Bus Carrying Pilgrims From Haridwar To Ayodhya Crashes After Driver Reportedly Fell Asleep

A devotee was killed and nearly 30 others injured after a double-decker bus carrying pilgrims from Haridwar to Ayodhya overturned into a roadside ditch in Uttar Pradesh's Uchauliya area.
A devotee was killed and nearly 30 others, including the bus driver, were injured after a double-decker bus carrying pilgrims to Ayodhya from Haridwar overturned into a roadside ditch on NH-30 here on Tuesday night, police said.The deceased was identified as Hari Shankar Lal Yadav (50).
Additional Superintendent of Police (West) Amit Ray said the accident occurred near a gurdwara in the Uchauliya area, after the driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and lost control of the bus.
Yadav died on the spot, while nearly 30 passengers sustained injuries, Ray said.
Police personnel and locals rushed the injured to the Pasgawan community health centre. Around six critically injured passengers were later referred to the district hospital in Shahjahanpur, he said.
Arrangements were being made to send the devotees back to their native places, the ASP added.
