Delhi's ‘Doctor Death’ Captured after Two years on run
He would convince them with false employment offers, kill them, and then dispose of their bodies in canals that were infested with crocodiles.

A 67- year old former Ayurvedic physician Dr. Devender Sharma was arrested in Rajasthan on Sunday after he ran away while on parole in 2023. Sharma, infamously known as Delhi's "Doctor Death," had previously been found guilty of several murders and participation in an illicit kidney transplant ring.
Sharma first turned to crime after incurring heavy financial losses in a failed gas dealership deal in 1994. A year later, he began running a fake gas agency and subsequently entered the illegal organ trade. His criminal motives then expanded to targeted killings of taxi drivers. He would convince them with false employment offers, kill them, and then dispose of their bodies in canals that were infested with crocodiles. After that, he sold their vehicles on the illegal market.
The officer reported Sharma has a long criminal history involving at least 27 cases of murder, kidnapping, and robbery. Sharma admitted to killing more than fifty cab drivers between 2002 and 2004.

In addition, he profited from illicit kidney surgeries and was a key player in a transnational organ trafficking network. He had confessed to facilitating more than 125 illegal transplante with the help of doctors and middle men operating in several states. Sharma lived in disguise as a priest in an ashram in Dausa, Rajasthan, after escaping while on parole. His arrest in May 2025 has sparked concerns about the security of the prison system and the gaps in parolee monitoring. This case, which shows how a reputable physician became one of India's most dangerous serial killers, continues to shock the nation.
