Defence Ministry Signs Rs 449-cr Navy Jammer Deal

The contract, awarded under the Buy (Indian–Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category with a minimum 75 per cent indigenous content, was signed in the presence of defence secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.

New Delhi: The defence ministry on Wednesday signed a Rs 449 crore contract with Accord Software and Systems Private Limited for procurement of 20 Enhanced Capability Global Navigation Satellite System (ECGNSS) jammers for the Indian Navy.
The contract, awarded under the Buy (Indian–Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category with a minimum 75 per cent indigenous content, was signed in the presence of defence secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
According to the defence ministry, the systems are designed to degrade satellite signal acquisition and tracking by adversary GNSS receivers and enable signal spoofing or deceptive jamming.
The induction of these systems is expected to enhance operational safety of Indian Navy ships in multi-threat environments.The ministry said the contract aligns with the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives and aims to strengthen the country’s maritime security architecture.
The procurement marks a step in efforts to expand indigenous defence capabilities and deploy advanced military technology.
