The aircraft, which had taken off from Aligarh airport on a training sortie, crashed near Police Lines in the Kasganj district headquarters area

Kasganj/Aligarh: A woman pilot escaped with minor injuries on Monday after a two-seater trainee aircraft crashed into a field in Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj district, officials said. The aircraft, which had taken off from Aligarh airport on a training sortie, crashed near Police Lines in the Kasganj district headquarters area, damaging a high-tension power line before hitting the ground, police said.

A report has been sent to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the officials said, adding that preliminary inquiry suggests that the aircraft developed technical snags.
The injured trainee pilot, identified as Kainaat Khan from Maharashtra, was rushed to the district hospital by ambulance. Doctors and officials said her condition was stable.
Khan was the sole occupant of the plane, they said.
Superintendent of Police O P Singh said the aircraft was flying over the area when it suddenly began losing altitude and crashed into a nearby field.
During the descent, it struck a high-tension electricity line, snapping the wire and causing extensive damage to the aircraft.
Police and senior administrative officials rushed to the spot along with rescue teams after receiving information about the crash.
Officials from the electricity department and other concerned agencies also reached the site to restore the damaged power line and ensure public safety.
Eyewitnesses said the aircraft descended rapidly before crashing into the field.
Director of the Aligarh airport, Satyabrat Saraswat, said that the aircraft of the Aligarh-based Pioneer Flying Academy, which took off from the Aligarh Airport at around 4 pm, crashed in Kasganj at around 4.30 pm.
He said that a team of senior officials from the Aligarh airport reached the accident site and a report has been sent to the DGCA.
Saraswat told reporters that the pilot of the aircraft, Kainaat Khan, received minor injuries and is "safe". She managed to scramble out of the wreckage and was helped by bystanders, he said.
The Aligarh airport director said that according to preliminary findings, the aircraft developed some technical snags.
The administration has ordered an inquiry and informed the concerned agencies to investigate the incident.
The exact cause of the crash would be known only after a detailed technical investigation, officials said.
