TMC Calls Modi Migratory Bird, Seeks Rs 1.7 Lakh Crore Dues Ahead of Bengal Visit

Kolkata: A day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to West Bengal, Trinamul Congress compared him with “migratory birds” and sought him to explain about pending central funds of Rs 1.7 lakh crores to the state following his claim that people of the state has become “tired of corruption and poor administration” of chief minister Mamata Banerjee's party.

The TMC’s response to the PM came minutes after he posted on X-handle, “I will be addressing a BJP West Bengal public meeting in Alipurduar tomorrow afternoon. Over the last decade, the various schemes of the NDA Government have been greatly appreciated by the people of West Bengal. At the same time, they are tired of the corruption and poor administration of the TMC.”

The TMC also highlighted it's development works in education, health, infrastructure in the North Bengal district where Mr Modi will address a rally on Thursday. It stated, “Alipurduar is witnessing a new era of growth and progress under the dynamic leadership of Smt. Mamata Banerjee. Driven by her unwavering commitment to people-first governance and inclusive development, Didi continues to reshape the region’s future.”

On the other hand, BJP underlined Mr Modi's plans for a development initiative in the district. In a statement it said, “In a significant step towards expanding the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in India, Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the CGD project in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts of West Bengal.”

The note added, “The project, worth over Rs 1010 crore, aims to provide Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to more than 2.5 Lakh households, over 100 commercial establishments and industries besides providing Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to vehicular traffic by establishing around 19 CNG stations in line with the Minimum Work Program (MWP) targets stipulated by the Government. It will provide convenient, reliable, environment-friendly and cost-effective fuel supply and create employment opportunities in the region.”
