Telangana Has The Highest Per-capita GSVA In Current Prices
Telangana’s per-capita GSVA was close to 1.25 lakh in FY2015 and this went up to around Rs 3.5 lakh in FY24 - more than doubling in nine years

Chennai: Telangana rose to the top position in terms of per-capita Gross State Value Added (GSVA) in FY24, from the ninth position in FY15. The per-capita GSVA of Telangana in current prices has more than doubled in these years.
In terms of per-capita GSVA (at current prices), Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, were the top 3 states in FY2024, replacing Haryana, Uttarakhand and Kerala in FY2015, finds a study by ICRA.
Telangana’s per-capita GSVA was close to 1.25 lakh in FY2015 and this went up to around Rs 3.5 lakh in FY24 - more than doubling in nine years. This helped Telangana surge from ninth position among the states to the top position, recording the fastest growth among the states. Karnataka moved up from seventh position to second slot and Tamil Nadu from sixth to third.
The CAGR of the GSVA of Telangana during this period was close to 6.8 per cent, higher than the national GVA CAGR of 5.8 per cent. The agricultural sector of Telangana displayed a CAGR of 6.2 per cent during FY2015-FY2024. AP’s agricultural output recorded the highest CAGR of 7.2 per cent during FY2015-FY2024, mainly led by the fishing and aquaculture sub-sector. However, in the crop sub-sector, Telangana recorded the highest growth of 6 per cent, which was much above most of the states.
Irrigation coverage of Telangana improved by around 26 pps in 2023 over 2015, aiding agricultural CAGR of the state. Notably, nearly 30-50 per cent of the total capital spending by Telangana, MP and Gujarat was towards the irrigation sector during FY2015-FY2023.
In the industrial sector, the CAGR for the nine-year period of Telangana ranged between 6-7 per cent, against the national average of 5.7 per cent.
In the services sector, the CAGR of Bihar, Gujarat, Telangana and Uttarakhand stood at 6.5-6.9 per cent, which was higher than the national average during FY2015-FY2024. In the sub-sector of trade, Telangana recorded the highest growth of 9 per cent. In the real estate sub-sector, the state recorded a growth of 8 per cent and 7 per cent in transport.
