Sourav Ganguly's Elder Brother, Sister-in-law Rescued After Speedboat Capsizes in Puri
Local authorities have taken note of the incident, though an official statement and inquiry report are still awaited.

Bhubaneswar: A leisure trip to Puri beach turned perilous on Sunday evening when a speedboat carrying tourists, including Snehasish Ganguly — elder brother of former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly — and his wife Arpita Ganguly, capsized in the sea.
The mishap took place near the stretch opposite Hotel Sonar Bangla, close to the Lighthouse area. According to reports, the tourists were participating in water sports when a strong wave struck the boat, causing it to overturn in deep waters.
Eyewitnesses said the four occupants, including the Ganguly couple, were briefly submerged and struggled to stay afloat before being rescued by private lifeguards stationed along the beach. All the passengers were brought ashore safely. While no one sustained serious injuries or required hospitalisation, the experience reportedly left the tourists traumatised.
Preliminary reports indicate that the speedboat was operated by staff allegedly lacking adequate training and experience. Survivors and witnesses claimed that the private adventure sports operator ignored mandatory safety protocols and was functioning without the necessary approval from the Puri district administration.
Local authorities have taken note of the incident, though an official statement and inquiry report are still awaited.
