"India remains actively engaged in various SCO mechanisms and continues to contribute to regional cooperation through initiatives in areas such as startups and innovation, digital public infrastructure, and people-to-people exchanges," the ministry said

NEW DELHI: Defence minister Rajnath Singh will represent India at the 25th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Tuesday, the external affairs ministry said on Monday.

"The meeting will focus on strengthening multilateral cooperation among SCO Member States, particularly in the areas of trade, economy, investment, connectivity, innovation and cultural-humanitarian exchanges," the ministry said.

The meeting will also review ongoing cooperation initiatives and consider decisions relating to the organisation's financial and institutional functioning.

"India remains actively engaged in various SCO mechanisms and continues to contribute to regional cooperation through initiatives in areas such as startups and innovation, digital public infrastructure, and people-to-people exchanges," the ministry said.

It added that the meeting would allow India to exchange views with member states on advancing practical and mutually beneficial cooperation within the organisation.

The previous Council of Heads of Government meeting was held in Moscow in November 2025, with external affairs minister S. Jaishankar representing India.

The SCO is a 10-member regional grouping.
