PM to Launch ₹18,000 Cr Projects in Bihar, Bengal

The Prime Minister will also flag off metro train services on newly constructed sections in Kolkata

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar and West Bengal today. He will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects worth around ₹13,000 crore at Gaya in Bihar at around 11 AM, according to the Prime Minister's Office press release. He will also flag off two trains and address the gathering.

Thereafter, he will inaugurate the Aunta-Simaria bridge project on the River Ganga. The Prime Minister will also flag off metro train services on newly constructed sections in Kolkata at around 4:15 PM and undertake a metro ride from Jessore Road Metro Station to Jai Hind Bimanbandar and back. Further, he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate development projects worth over ₹5,200 crore at Kolkata and address the gathering.

In line with his commitment to improving connectivity, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the 8.15 km-long Aunta-Simaria bridge project on NH-31, including the 1.86 km-long six-lane bridge on the River Ganga, constructed at a cost of over ₹1,870 crore. It will provide direct connectivity between Mokama in Patna and Begusarai, reducing extra travel distance of more than 100 km for heavy vehicles and easing congestion in the region.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the four-lane Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama section of NH-31, worth around ₹1,900 crore, and improvements to the Bikramganj-Dawath-Nawanagar-Dumraon section of NH-120, boosting rural connectivity.

Strengthening the power sector, he will inaugurate the Buxar Thermal Power Plant (660x1 MW) worth ₹6,880 crore. In healthcare, the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre at Muzaffarpur will be launched, offering advanced cancer treatment to Bihar and neighbouring states.

Under Namami Gange, he will inaugurate a sewerage treatment plant and network at Munger worth ₹520 crore. He will also lay the foundation stone of urban infrastructure projects worth ₹1,260 crore, including STPs and water supply projects in Aurangabad, Bodhgaya, Jehanabad, Lakhisarai, and Jamui under AMRUT 2.0.

Boosting rail connectivity, he will flag off the Amrit Bharat Express between Gaya and Delhi, and the Buddhist Circuit Train between Vaishali and Koderma. Grih Pravesh ceremonies for 12,000 PMAY-Gramin and 4,260 PMAY-Urban beneficiaries will also take place.

In Kolkata, the Prime Minister will inaugurate metro projects covering 13.61 km of new routes. These include the Noapara-Jai Hind Bimanbandar, Sealdah-Esplanade, and Beleghata-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay metro services, improving connectivity to the airport, IT hub, and city centre while reducing travel times significantly.

Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for the 7.2 km-long six-lane elevated Kona Expressway worth over ₹1,200 crore, enhancing connectivity between Howrah and Kolkata, saving travel time, and boosting trade, commerce, and tourism in the region.
