PM Hails Indigenous Defence, Aviation Milestones in Mann Ki Baat

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hailed India's achievements in security and self-reliance, highlighting the maiden successful flight of the first made-in-India C-295 military transport aircraft and the successful test of the indigenous Long-Range Land-Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM).
Addressing the nation during his monthly Mann Ki Baat programme, the Prime Minister said the achievements of June have filled every Indian with pride and strengthened the country's journey towards self-reliance.
PM Modi also referred to the induction of INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak and INS Agray into the Indian Navy earlier this month, noting that the ships were designed and built entirely in India.
Highlighting progress in the aviation sector, he said the made-in-India C-295 aircraft had successfully completed its maiden flight. He added that 40 such aircraft are being manufactured in India, giving a boost to the MSME and aerospace sectors, generating employment and reinforcing the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The Prime Minister also praised the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for successfully testing the indigenous Long-Range Land-Attack Cruise Missile, developed jointly by DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners.
The DRDO conducted the successful flight test of the missile from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast on June 15. According to the organisation, all mission objectives were achieved based on data recorded by tracking systems deployed by the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur.
The LRLACM has been developed indigenously with contributions from multiple DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners. The Aeronautical Development Establishment in Bengaluru served as the nodal laboratory, while senior DRDO officials and representatives of the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force witnessed the test.
