MadhyaPradesh: 2 Fake Doctors Booked, One a BJP Leader
A preliminary probe by the police has suggested Camm was actually Kanpur-based Narendra Yadav who had allegedly faked the identity of renowned UK cardiologist N. John Camm.

Bhopal: The police in Madhya Pradesh booked two persons masquerading as doctors, Narendra John Camm, who reportedly pretended to be a UK-based doctor and performed cardiac surgery on seven persons who died as a result at Damoh, and Subham Awasthi who worked in a government hospital in Jabalpur.
A preliminary probe by the police has suggested Camm was actually Kanpur-based Narendra Yadav who had allegedly faked the identity of renowned UK cardiologist N. John Camm.
Camm, who worked at the Mission Hospital at Damoh, was arrested at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh late on Monday night by a special investigation team (SIT) constituted for the purpose, police said. Camm was remanded to police custody for five days, public prosecutor Satish Kapasya said.
Preliminary investigation suggested that Camm’s medical qualification certificate was fake, Damoh SP Shrut Kirti Somwanshi said. A complaint has been lodged with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) alleging death of seven heart patients treated by Camm.
Awasthi, co-convener in the BJP’s Jabalpur unit medical wing, was booked for using fake medical certificate to work in the government-run Seth Govind Das District Hospital, formerly Victoria Hospital, in Jabalpur, as an Ayurvedic doctor, police said.
The FIR was registered on April 5 as per court orders, said Nehru Singh Khandate, inspector of Civil Line police station in Jabalpur. Earlier, First Class Judicial Magistrate, Jabalpur, Palak Srivastav had asked by the police had failed to take action against Awasthi despite a court order issued on February 14.
The matter came to light when the MP unit Shiv Sena (UBT) vice-president Shailendra Bari took up the issue of Awasthi with the local administration and the police. He said learnt about the fake doctor from his friend who was admitted to the hospital in 2020-21 and later died. BJP’s Jabalpur city unit chief Ratnesh Sonkar said the party would take action against Awasthi after official confirmation of the case.
