Madhya Pradesh: Farmers Indulged in Stubble Burning to Lose Welfare Scheme Benefits: CM Mohan Yadav
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav issued the direction while reviewing the performance of the state revenue department here late on Thursday night.

Bhopal: Farmers indulging in stubble burning in Madhya Pradesh will be denied benefits of welfare schemes, announced for the farming community, from May one.
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav issued the direction while reviewing the performance of the state revenue department here late on Thursday night.
Mr. Yadav said stubble burning has been banned in Madhya Pradesh and if any farmer is found to be indulging in such practice, then he will be deprived of the benefits of all the welfare schemes declared for the farming community.
The directive will come into force on May one this year.
As per the directive, such erring farmers will be denied the benefits under the Chief Minister Kisan Kalyan Yojana, providing the beneficiaries an annual incentive of Rs 6,000 each.
The government also will not procure their produce at minimum support price (MSP).
The move aims to protect the environment, ensure soil conservation, and sustain land productivity.
The chief minister said Madhya Pradesh is an agriculture-based state.
The growing practice of burning crop residue after harvest is causing severe environmental damage, including air pollution and degradation of soil quality.
Stubble burning destroys essential nutrients in the soil, reducing its fertility, he said.
Despite the ban on stubble burning, the practice is prevalent widely in Madhya Pradesh particularly in the rural belt, official sources say.
Meanwhile, a cumulative penalty of Rs 26.46 lakh has been imposed on 722 farmers in Vidisha district in the state for stubble burning.
FIRs have been filed against nine farmers in this connection.
