Former Kerala Minister K Rajan Condemns Police Brutality in Delhi

Speaking exclusively to Deccan Chronicle about the students protests and government’s response to it, the former minister said that the Union Government has failed the students.

Senior Communist Party Of India leader and Former Kerala revenue minister K Rajan MLA said that he and his party unanimously stand in support of the students and youth protesting against the Union Government’s education policies on education system and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Speaking exclusively to Deccan Chronicle about the students protests and government’s response to it, the former minister said that the Union Government has failed the students.

“The police and the central forces have unleashed violence undemocratically upon peacefully protesting students,” he said.

“Though the movement was started by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), it has evolved into a national movement against the Union Government and its anti-democratic policies. It has now become a movement of Indian citizens against the

Members of the All India Student Federation (AISF), the students wing of CPI have been on hunger strike in Delhi, and are in the forefront along with the protesting CJP from the beginning of the Jantar Mantar protests.

“In yesterday’s police violence against the protesting students during their Parliament March, many students were severely injured, including AISF activists, which is highly condemnable,” K Rajan said.

“We intend to take out nationwide protests, and awareness campaigns over the issue,” he said.

“On Tuesday, we are conducting rallies across each district in Kerala over the issue, and will raise the concerns and make people aware of the issue, in support of the protesting students,” he added.
