Bhubaneswar: A seven-member high-level delegation from the Delhi Legislative Assembly, which visited the Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLA) from April 15 to 17, has expressed satisfaction with the paperless functioning of the House and the operational benefits of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA).

The delegation, led by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, held extensive discussions with OLA Speaker Surama Padhy, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and senior House officials to gain deeper insights into the seamless functioning of the Assembly. The team, which also included Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, showed a keen interest in understanding Odisha's successful implementation of NeVA.

“During our visit, we learned a great deal about the paperless processes in the Odisha Legislative Assembly. The benefits of NeVA, particularly in connecting legislative bodies across the country and enabling the exchange of best practices, were well explained by the experienced officials here. We are eager to adopt Odisha’s model in the Delhi Legislative Assembly,” said Speaker Vijender Gupta.

The DLA delegation has requested the OLA Speaker to send a team of NeVA experts and officials to help replicate Odisha’s model in Delhi.

“We came here to learn from Odisha's expertise in digitally transforming legislative proceedings,” Gupta added.

Other members of the delegation included Delhi Assembly secretary Ranjit Singh and finance officer Gurinder Singh. Odisha Legislative Assembly secretary Satyabrata Rout facilitated the team’s exposure to various special features and facilities of the House.

Speaker Gupta also affirmed his commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Digital India’ and ‘Go Green’ initiatives. He announced that the Delhi Assembly would soon install a 500 KV solar power system, aiming for zero energy bills. The transition to paperless operations, NeVA implementation, and the green initiative are expected to be completed by July, ahead of the monsoon session.
