Defence Forces Given Emergency Powers to Acquire Weapons and Ammunition

There was no official word on the decision. This will be fifth tranche of emergency procurement powers given to the defence forces in the last five years.

New Delhi: The Defence Acquisition Council is reported to have approved emergency powers for the Army, Navy and the Indian Air Force of around Rs 40,000 crore for acquisition of arms and ammunition. There was no official word on the decision. This will be fifth tranche of emergency procurement powers given to the defence forces in the last five years. Earlier the emergency powers to acquire weapons and ammunition was given during standoff with China.
