Dates of PM Modi's Canada Visit Currently Under Discussion Between Two Sides: MEA
MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, during his bi-weekly media briefing, was asked to confirm reports suggesting the dates of the forthcoming visit in December

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Canada from December 11-12 to hold bilateral talks with his counterpart Mark Carney. The news was confirmed by the Canadian PM and also posted by the Indian High Commission in Ottawa on X.
Mr Modi will travel to Toronto and Ottawa during his visit and will touch base with the Indian diaspora apart from his official engagements with the Canadian government. The visit will provide fresh impetus to India-Canada ties that suffered a major setback during former Canadian PM Justin Trudeau’s regime.
Recently Prime Minister Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney held a telephonic conversation during which both agreed to build on the positive momentum in ties and work towards concrete outcomes across key areas of the Strategic Partnership. These areas include trade, energy, technology, security and people-to-people ties.
Canadian Foreign Minister Ms Anita Anand on Thursday met Mr Modi. This was her second meeting with PM Modi in two days. According to the Canadian Foreign office, Minister Anand congratulated Mr Modi on 25 years of public service, highlighted the significant progress made on the Canada-India joint roadmap and discussed ways to deepen cooperation between Canada and India in key areas of shared interest, including energy, education, culture and technology.
They also welcomed the bilateral security dialogue that took place in India last week as part of ongoing security and law enforcement engagement at the National Security Advisor level.
“Minister Anand and Prime Minister Modi discussed the importance of concluding a comprehensive economic partnership agreement by the end of the year and highlighted the Team Canada Trade Mission led by International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu as a tangible example of growing the economic partnership, expansion of bilateral trade and advancing Canada’s broader engagements in the Indo-Pacific. Minister Anand said she looked forward to welcoming Prime Minister Modi in Canada in December,” the Canadian government said.
