Cyber Cell Arrests Man for Threat Calls to Raja Singh

Hyderabad: The city’s cybercrime police on Tuesday arrested a man who was wanted for eight months for making threatening calls to BJP Goshamahal MLA T. Raja Singh. The accused, Mohammed Waseem, 40, was arrested at the Shamshabad airport on arrival from Dubai.

Waseem, working as a driver in Dubai for the last 10 years, had come to the city to meet his family who stay in Chandrayangutta, police disclosed.

Raja Singh on October 28, 2023, had lodged a complaint with the cybercrime police stating that he was receiving frequent life threats from various phone numbers. Based on his complaint, the cybercrime police kept a track of the numbers.

The police identified Waseem as the caller, issued a look-out circular for him and alerted immigration officials at the Shamshabad airport.

“When he arrived from Dubai on Tuesday morning, immigration officials sent him into custody at RGI airport and later handed him over to city cyber cell. We are looking into various angles including Waseem’s links with international or local terrorist organisations and underworld mafia,” a police officer disclosed.
