C'garh: 4 Slain Maoists in Bijapur Encounter Identified, Carried Combined Bounty of Rs 17 Lakh
An encounter ensued between them in the area on Saturday evening, leading to the death of four Maoists and recovery of weapons and explosives.

Raipur: Four Maoists including two women, slain in the July 16 encounter in Bijapur district under south Bastar in Chhattisgarh, have been identified, police said on Sunday.
All the four deceased Naxals, three of whom were in the rank of area committee member (ACM) carrying a bounty of Rs five lakh each, were functioning under the south sub-zonal bureau of Maoists, according to Bijapur district superintendent of police Jitendra Yadav.
The three slain ACMs have been identified as Hunga, Lakhhe, and Bhime.
The remaining deceased Maoist has been identified as Nihal alias Rahul, a party member and guard of Santosh, the head of the bureau communication team, police said.
Based on intelligence inputs on the presence of armed Naxals in a forest along Basaguda and Gangaloor police station areas under south-western Bijapur, a search operation was launched by a joint security team in the area on Saturday.

The weapons recovered included one self-loaded rifle (SLR), one INSAS rifle, one .303 rifle, and one 12 bore rifle and barren grenade launchers (BGLs).
According to the Bastar range inspector general of police, as many as 425 Maoists have so far been killed in separate encounters in Bastar in the last 19 months.
