CBI Deports Red Notice Fugitive Vishakha Rathod from UAE

Rathod, who was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice, was brought back to India on August 3 in connection with an alleged large-scale financial fraud case

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has facilitated the deportation of wanted fugitive Vishakha Rathod from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to India, officials said on Wednesday.

Rathod, who was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice, was brought back to India on August 3 in connection with an alleged large-scale financial fraud case. She arrived in Pune and was taken into custody by a team of Maharashtra Police.

According to the CBI, Rathod is accused of being part of a criminal conspiracy that induced investors to invest in multiple schemes by falsely promising assured fixed monthly returns.

The agency alleged that the invested funds were dishonestly misappropriated and diverted through multiple bank and demat accounts.

Following the investigation, an Interpol Red Notice was issued against Rathod, enabling international agencies to trace and secure her return to India.

The CBI, the nodal agency for Interpol matters in India, coordinated with national and international authorities to locate and deport the accused.

The deportation was carried out with the assistance of the MEA and MHA, highlighting inter-agency cooperation in bringing back fugitives accused of serious economic offences.

Rathod is now in the custody of Maharashtra Police for further investigation and legal proceedings. Authorities reiterated their commitment to tracking down fugitives who flee abroad and ensuring their return through legal and diplomatic channels.
