Bengali New Year to Be Celebrated on April 15

Many cultural and religious people throngs at the bank of the river Ganga to observe " Ganga, arati, and cultural functions hope for good will for common people throughout the year.

Berhampore: Bengali new year is going to be celebrated in historic Murshidabad district in various ways. Mongal shova yatra ( people 's welfare march) will be observed on the early morning of Poila Baishakh at Berhampore where various socio cultural groups, group theatre troupes, traditonal folk dances troupes, traditional drum beaters,students, teachers and people of various walks of life will took part in this welfare march to maintain peace and communal harmony and will march thoroughfare of Berhampore to celebrate the first day of Baishakh, informed one of the organiser Ashis Bagchi. Various people bathe in a holy dip in the river Ganga to observe the 1st day of Baishakh followed by pujas in various temples specialy Vishnupur Kali temple.

On the other hand Cossimbazar palace of Roy's also organising Bengali new year celebration on their traditional heritage house for a sumptuous lunch with bengali mouth watering menu followed by cultural function.on afternoon said Pallav Roy,one of the ancestor of Cossimbazar Raj family member.

On the other hand football bar post pujas also to be observed at the Friend Union club ground and others clubs grounds also. At Manik nagar village in Beldanga in Murshidabad named "Adam- Gadam fare will be observed and people accross the life take part in this fair where business, exhibitions, cultural functions, unions etc observed .

Gone are those golden " Punyaha"days ( holy and auspicious day on the 1st day of Baishakh,) Jaygi dars( big riots or land owners) and Zamindars ( land lords) of erst while Nawab era were making a bee line to deposit annual land revenues for renew their lands and properties on the durbar of Nawab Murshid ali Khan between 1707 to 1717 AD and Nawab gave them sumptuous " Dawat" and mehfil and sweet meats for them.

In a nut cell those punya ceremony later transformed into Bengali new year celebration or hal khata after punya ceremony was in extinct on 1793 after famous permanent settlement doctrine by Lord Cornwallis said history researchers!.
