Tata Plans to Train ITI Grads at Rs 2,000 Crore

Hyderabad: Tata Technologies Ltd will provide job-oriented industrial training to students of 50 government it is (industrial training institutes) at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore, the company announced, following a meeting with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday.

The company will extend training and support for five years, as a part of which it will offer 22 new short-term and five long-term courses to
polytechnic and engineering students, aiming to provide employment in the high-demand manufacturing sector with modern technical workshops.

Revanth Reddy said that the youth of the state must be equipped with modern technology for facing global challenges, discussing with officials ways to provide the same and train youth to help them get jobs.

He said the government was committed to providing employment opportunities to the youth, urging the company to introduce new courses for employment and promote entrepreneurship to set up their businesses.

The Chief Minister, addressing the meeting, said: “Outdated courses wasted valuable time of youth… Replace them with modern courses. The government will extend all necessary cooperation.”

Under the initiative, the company will provide the required machinery,
equipment and software for setting up ‘4.0 Skilling Centres’, as well as
maintaining them.

Revanth Reddy appreciated the company for the initiative to train 1 lakh students and directed Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari to constitute a committee of senior officials for an MoU with the company.

Among the topics that will be taught in the courses are industrial
automation, robotics manufacturing, advanced CNC machine technicians, EV mechanics, basic designers and virtual verifiers, among others. The company also agreed to provide two master trainers to each ITI.

Officials said that the labour and employment department is already holding consultations with the company to finalise the modalities for an MoU, while 50 ITIs have already been identified.

(education) Burra Venkatesham, CMO officials V. Seshadri, Shanawaz and Ajith Reddy, took part in the meeting. Tata Technologies’ senior vice president P. Kaulgud and global head vice president Sushil Kumar represented the company.
