J&K Police Offers Cash Rewards for Info on Militants, Anti-India Activities

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday announced cash rewards ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 12.5 lakh for the persons who would provide it with information on separatist militants, their pursuits and other anti-India activities.

The police in a post on ‘X’ said that the identity of the person who provides it with information and intelligence on “trans-border tunnels, drones, narcotics, terror activities and terrorists” will be kept secret. It said that the public can share such information with district Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs).

As per the announcement, a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh will be given to the person who gives information about the person(s) who in mosques, madrassas, schools or colleges are “encouraging, inducing and inciting people to join terrorist ranks or pick up guns.”

A person who provides information on the people “who are talking to or communicating with terrorist handlers across the border or their agents within J&K and branding citizens as mukhbirs (police informers) and passing on their personal details like photos, and addresses, (on) movement of off-duty policemen and other security personnel or government servants for targeting them will fetch a cash reward of Rs 2 lakhs.”

Also, the person who gives out information about the persons who are “talking to Pakistan-based terrorist handlers or separatists in jails which leads to successful discovery of facts including recoveries or busting of modules during subsequent investigations will also be given Rs 2 lakhs as cash reward. Cash reward of the same amount will be given for information leading to the busting of an inter-state narcotic module.

The police has announced cash reward of Rs 3 lakhs for “whoever sights a drone flown from across the border to drop narcotics or explosive material and which leads to the recovery of the said consignment and also “actionable intelligence“ about the person “connected with receiving the drone deliveries or and transporting arms, ammunition or narcotics from the International Border (IB) with Pakistan or the Line of Control (LoC) to the J&K hinterland or Punjab and the said intelligence gets corroborated during further action.”

Rs 5 lakhs will be given for providing information which helps in locating “a trans-border tunnel used by anti-national elements to tranship terrorists, explosives and contraband consignments.”

Rs 2 to 12.5 lakh cash rewards will be given to “whoever gives specific information about the presence of terrorists (depending on their category -A, B or C) and this results in successful operation leading to arrest or combat.”
