A. Sudarshan Reddy is New Advocate General of TS

Hyderabad: Designated senior advocate A. Sudarshan Reddy was appointed the new Advocate General for Telangana state, as per orders issued by the law secretary after a proposal in this regard was approved by the Governor.

Sudarshan Reddy had served as the Advocate General (AG) of erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh from January 17, 2011, to June 3, 2014, during Kiran Kumar Reddy’s tenure as the chief minister.

Reddy was the first Telangana-origin AG to serve in the position in united AP. He also served as the AG for AP and Telangana during the President’s Rule in 2014, during the demarcation of the state.

After the then TRS government assumed office in Telangana on June 2, 2014, Reddy resigned from the position. With the Congress now forming the government, ministers and seniors decided to appoint Reddy as the AG due to his experience.

A native of Rechepalli village in Sarangapur mandal of Jagtial district,
Reddy studies at St Paul’s School, graduated from Nizam College and got his law degree from Osmania University. He was a classmate of Kiran Kumar Reddy at Nizam College.

Reddy enrolled as an advocate in 1985, practising at district courts and the High Court, specialising in civil and criminal cases.
