Chennai: Water managers in Chennai are hoping for a copious inflow of Krishna water likely to reach Chennai by the first week of January. The neighbouring Andhra Pradesh is to share 12 tmc feet of water to Chennai as per the Telugu Ganga agreement and it usually releases water during the end of December and this reaches Chennai by a week's time. The total storage capacity of all reservoirs in Chennai amounted to 5 tmc feet on Saturday as against the storage of 1.7 tmc feet during the same day last year. After water from the river Krishna is realised at zero point in TN water managers are confident that there will be no water shortage in 2018. However there was no inflow to any of the reservoirs on Saturday. Meanwhile, metro water authorities maintained an outflow of 26 cusecs from Poondi Lake, 84 cusecs from Red Hills lake and 49 cusecs from Chembarambakkam lake to meet the drinking water needs of Chennaiites.
