Police said that Vijayalakshmi was murdered and suspected her husband behind the crime.
A fire walking ceremony at a Goddess Mariamman temple at Thenkudi village near Nannilam in Tiruvarur district turned tragic, as 20 persons suffered burns after they fell inside the pit where red-hot burnt charcoal was spread in the early hours on Saturday.
Hyderabad: A day after BSF soldier Bhimla Naik died in an accident in Mahbubnagar district, the burnt body of his first wife Vijayalakshmi was found in the bushes on Saturday. Police said that Vijayalakshmi was murdered and suspected her husband behind the crime.
Investigation revealed that on Thursday, Vijaya-lakshmi and Bhimla had appeared before the court at Jadcherla. After the court hearing, Bhimla offered to drop Vijayalakshmi at her maternal home. Midway, he dragged her into the bushes on the outskirts of Rangareddy Guda village.
Police said that out of anger he poured kerosene and set her body ablaze.
Later he drove away but midway met with an accident and died on the spot on the same night.
