Feeding hungry mouths will help build a strong nation: Pranab Mukherjee
Bengaluru: President Pranab Mukherjee said providing food to hungry people will help in building a healthy society and a strong nation.
Speaking after inaugurating 'Seva Utsav' by Adamya Chetana Trust and dedicating a new building of Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre here on Friday, he said twenty years ago, two summits held in Denmark and Cooperhegun adopted 10 important resolutions including one on providing food to hungry children to ensure a health future. This would also help in moulding responsible citizens and ensure overall development of the nation.
Mr Mukherjee said it was not right to expect the government to solve all problems that were afflicting the nation. Individuals and organisations must come forward and join hands with the government to eradicate social inequality. It was heartening to note that Adamya Chetana was working in this direction by providing food to hungry children. Like-minded people and organisations must work together to remove inequality in society, he said. Lauding Bengaluru, the President said this city had made a name in the field of science, education and also as a healthy city. Unfortunately, the world had not been able to find the medicine to cure cancer despite investing crores of rupees in research activities, he bemoaned.
