Institute of Plastics Tech to be inaugurated in Kochi
Kochi: The new building of Institute of Plastics Technology at Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology at Eloor in Kochi will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, D.V. Sadananda Gowda on Thursday.
The CIPET is a national institute devoted to skill development, technology support, academic and research activities in the domains of plastics engineering and technology. CIPET has 36 centres across the country and 5 more centres are in the process of establishment.
The CIPET- IPT Kochi has been set up at a total project cost of Rs. 24.90 crores on equal contribution from Centre and state governments. The centre was functioning in temporary premises and so far it had trained more than 120 students through the PG programmes affiliated with Cochin University of Science and Technology.
The plastics industry in the state and the budding entrepreneurs will derive benefits through the technology support services and skilled manpower offered by CIPET.
V. Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External Affairs, Prof. K.N. Madhusoodanan, Vice-Chancellor, CUSAT, joint secretary of petrochemicals, KashiNath Jha and director general of CIPET Prof. S K Nayak, and officers from the Union and state governments will also attend the function.
