YSRC demands judicial or CBI probe into Jagan attack
Vijayawada: YSR Congress leaders, led by Rajya Sabha member V. Vijaya Sai Reddy, on Tuesday released a charge sheet in New Delhi with regard to the attack on YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy last week.
The YSRC leaders alleged that the State Government has been working with an ulterior motive of trivialising the attack on Mr Jagan and alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has made blatant attempts to misguide the investigation progress.
“Instead of strongly condemning the incident and acting on facts, Mr Naidu and the Government machinery have spewed lies and misguided people based on a premature investigation,” they said.
The YSRC leaders also said that looking at the way things have unfolded, after the attack on Mr Jagan, it is evident that the investigation is not being conducted to understand the motive of the accused and to bring out the people behind the attack.
Instead of bringing out the truth, it appears that the entire Government machinery is trying to establish that the attacker is a fan of Mr Jagan and the accused has done this for publicity.
“The TD Government is trying to undermine the incident by stating that the weapon used for the attack was small. But in reality, the weapon was very sharp and is generally used during the cock fights,” Mr Vijaya Sai Reddy said.
“Therefore, we demand an independent investigation without any involvement of the State Government agencies, to bring out the facts in the case,” he said.
The YSRC alleged that the state police is “biased” in its investigation and is working as per the direction of the CM. YSRC leader Varaprasad Rao said currently the probe is focused on the accused and not on conspirators.
